Summer Cohesion Program

Summer Cohesion is a six-week summer, drop-in, recreational, educational and cultural enrichment program, which provides children, ages 4 through 12, with a safe, structured, fun and rewarding summer. The program is administered throughout countywide locations. Youth participate in daily activities such as arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor games, attend special performances, and travel to local libraries, parks and museums. Summer Cohesion serves approximately 1,000 children each summer.

Monday, July 6th - Thursday, August 13th
8:00am to 2:00pm

Broadway Elementary*
Cohen Middle
Fassett Elementary*
Gardner Road Elementary
Hendy Avenue Elementary*
Parley Coburn Elementary*
Ridge Road Elementary
* - Breakfast & Lunch will be provided at eligible sites at no cost.
Breakfast & Lunch will be served on the first day of the program.

Sign-Ups:
Online - Begins, Monday, June 1st at 6:00am at SummerCohesion.com
To register online you must use your debit or credit card

In-Person - Monday, June 1st at Parley Coburn Elementary - 4:00pm
                                    Tuesday, June 2nd at Horseheads High School South Wing - 4:00pm

Cost:
Activity Fee - 1st Child - $100            Each additional Child - $75

Reduced Activity Fee:
Eligibility for reduced fee is based from total household income and number of people residing in the home.

A keycode allows families to register youth online for Summer Cohesion at a reduced fee with a credit or debit card.


To obtain your keycode (For A Reduce Activity Fee or DSS Scholarship ONLY) -

1. If your child receives SNAP, Medicaid, HEAP contact the Youth Bureau at 737-2907.  You may be eligible for a reduce fee.

2.  You must prequailify at the Chemung County Youth Bureau or In-Person Sign-Ups with your 2014 Tax Return

Chemung County Reads Program!


Childcare available before and after Summer Cohesion -
YWCA Elmira & the Twin Tiers will operate Kids World at five Summer Cohesion sites for youth ages (5-12) Mon-Fri 2:00pm-5:30pm. Call 733-5575 or visit ywcaelmira.org  For care after Summer Cohesion at Broadway Elementary, Cohen Elementary, Gardner Rd. Elementary, Hendy Avenue Elementary, Ridge Road Elementary
The Chemung Valley Early Care and Learning Center (formally YMCA) will operate summer programs. For more information, call 795-4430
Ernie Davis Community Center  will be open Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-8pm. For more information, call 734-6174
Frontline Community Youth Center  will be open Monday-Friday after Summer Cohesion. For more information, call 767-1132
Southside Community Center will be open Mon-Fri 2:00pm-6:00pm for  youth ages (5-12). For more information, call 734-9245
